I really love nature photography. And macro photography too. Magda K.´s works are fantastic. This photographer from Poland understands vey well the beauty of nature and know how to show it in its best. Her shots are unexpected and the light is wonderful. I hope you like it too.

Black and white photos are great mainly because of its contrast. MustafaDedeogLu´s works are a wonderful example of this. His photos show emotions and feelings that are better exposed without colors. Beyond that, some angles used by this turkey photographer are very unusual, giving his images are very authorial look. It´s fantastic to find such a different work based in use of the black and white. He takes pretty colofurl pictures too, but I really appreciate his b&w.

It´s so great to find such an original artist like Amrei Hofstätter. Her work has it´s very own style. She made abstract forms based on origami and her colours are very surreals. It´s a fantastic work with an amazing style. It has a magical feeling because of its wonderful and unknow forms. She´s an inspired designer and illustrator from Germany. Her works have already been showed in exhibitions and magazines.

I never get tired of wonderful nature photography. It´s always possible finds great photographers on Deviantart. Alexandre Deschaumes takes splendid shots, with perfect light and composition. Some has amazing effects, a litle abstract. His photos have a great peaceful feeling because of its wonderful landscape, awesome colors and great light. Nature photography offers a lot of challenges but Deschaumes crowns all in a beautiful way.

Looking images at Deviantart I found a Baby Jack! I ´m a big fan of Tim Burton and I really like the image. It ´s very detailed and it´s a different way to draw Jack. Well, the artist, Ruben Martinez, has made more baby characters images with comic heroes, what I find very creative. I ´m not a big comic fan but thoses are very fun images. And he has made good images of grown up heroes too.

Again, I just had a look at my circle at Behance and got impressed with Paramjeet Singh work. Actually, he ´s a student but he really made great works. I like his new logo and the whole creative process. He´s always trying new ideas and tecniques, what is making him grow as a designer. It ´s very nice to see others designers progress. I hope he keeps going as a designer, he´ll probably succeed!

Tell us a little bit about yourself and your motivation to be a designer.
Hi, my name is Paramjeet Singh, I am residing in South Wales (UK) and currently studying Interactive Media. I joined the world of Graphic Designing about 2 years ago. Firstly, I started with Fine Art when I was in my secondary school. I decided to carry it forward by doing A levels in such an area. But, after a while I decided to change my field and I ended up studying IT (Computing). I studied IT for 2 years and then I realised that IT is not my area. After a while, my friends introduced me to a few designing software such as Photoshop. My interest in Graphic Design started to grow, as I was getting familiar with the software. And, then I changed my field back to Art and ended up studying Multimedia. This is my last year of the course and I am hoping to do a degree in Graphic Design.

Where do you usually find inspiration?
Coming up with an idea from scratch is very difficult. Inspiration is the key element of this world. In my case, I normally question people on what exactly they are looking for, such as what colours they like, layout and text. I spend a few moments on the Internet in order to discover what is currently out there. There are a few websites, which I browse, everyday in order to keep my memory up-to-date. Here are the links, www.behance.net, www.deviantart.com and www.thefwa.com. I also get a lot of inspiration from my photographs.

Also, I spend a lot of time playing games on my computer (and my parents always shout about it), but trust me sometimes you do come up with some very good stuff just by playing games.

How is your creative process and how long you take working in your pieces?
It depends on the complexity of a project. For example, I often write down all the possible questions and answers and then I start browsing and mix things together, until I come up with a suitable conclusion. After that a quick sketch of the final project on paper and then off to computers to finish it.

Why did you change your logo and how was its creative process?
This is a very good question, in my opinions a logo should be able to represent what a company does. And in this case, my previous logo was very boring, dull and unattractive. The previous logo did not represent and mean anything. Therefore, I decided to rebrand my logo.

Now, the new logo took me about 2 months to complete, I did about 24 designs within that time and it was very difficult to select the appropriate one. In order to solve the problem efficiently, I printed all the logos and handed over to people in order to see what they say. Many people replied and asked me to select the current PDESIGNS logo, because it shows what I do and how I do it.

Which tools do you use the most? Why?
I recently started playing with Cinema 4D (pretty hard to learn), but most of the time I prefer using Photoshop because I am familiar with the options. I also use Flash and Dreamweaver when it comes to designing websites and other interactive media.

What do you expect from the future?
Simple answer; don’t know yet, might to go back to IT.

Thank you for your time! What could you tell to others that want to be designers?
Again, a very good question. I love art, but my parents don’t like when I make sketches of my work, they always say that I am wasting time and blah blah. All I can say to future designers is, “Listen to what people say, BUT DO WHAT YOU THINK IS RIGHT”.

Sometimes it´s hard to find an artist with an impressive work. Well, looking at my circle on Behance I took a better look at Orfée works. I asked myself why I haven´t showed her work here yet. It ´s great! I really like abstract pieces and Orfée makes really good ones. The colours, the composition, the elements, everything is very well done. It´s a high detailed work. All I know about her is that she ´s a 24 years old art student.

Macro is a very special kind of photography because it shows details, specially from nature, that would be very hard to see only with your eyes. It´s like to discover a new world of beauty through the nature that´s around us all the time. The work of Oer-Wout is remarkable, it really means how wonderful macro photography can be. He makes others styles of works too, but I´ve stayed very impressed with his macro shots.  I just can´t get tired of looking at his photos. And all I can tell about him is that he´s from Netherlands.

In this tutorial we´ll create a night scene based in a photo taken during the day. It´ll look better than taking the photo of the same place at night, as it isn´t very illuminate at later hours. The effect by itself isn´t so difficult to create but I´m sure this idea can be used in a lot of works. Here is a preview of the image we´ll be creating:

Step 1: Some Adjustments

Let´s start turning the image to black and white in the way you prefer. I copy the red channel and pasted it into the layers. After that, I selected the sky and deleted it and, in a layer below, used the color 191c3f to paint all of it. This is our night sky. And then, just to make a better contrast in this imagem, I used curves and pulled it down a little bit. So, your image should look like that:

Step 2: Night Color

Now, to give a nice night effect, click crtl+click in the layer of the black and white cinema image and create a solid color adjustment layer. Then choose some dark blue, I choose 14496f, and use a blend mode, in this case the best is overlay. After that, use some outer glow, in layer style, with a low opacity, like 16% (it doens´t need to be very shiny). Now, the image is like this:

Step 3: Lettering

Well, it´s night and the cinema needs to be visible, because of it´s popular nighty sessions. So, it´s name has to be very shiny. Select the name and create a solid color adjustment layer with some strong red like ed1c24. Then, in layer style, put outer glow with the color ee3037. In size, choose 16px, spread 3px, and opacity 62%. And the logo below the name has to be shiny too. So, make a solid color adjustment layer again and use the same outer glow (but change the color). The colors of the logo are: f5fe60 for the top and 2bffe9 for the rest. Don´t forget to create a white solid color adjustment layer above the logo.

Step 4: Final – Moon and Stars

Now, draw a circle on the top left and paint it with white. Use outer glow again increasing the size and spread, and that is our fake moon. Then, dram a shadow in the shape of a triangle from the moon until the top right of the image. In the blend mode of the shadow layer, choose multiply and, in the opacity, 19%. And, just to finish, make some little fake stars with a brush with 0% hardness in a solid color adjustment.
